Curriculum
Preschoolers
Group Circle
Group circle takes place on a daily basis. During group circle, children will learn the concept of time i.e., days of the week, what day it is today, the months in a year, the various seasons and the weather calendar.
Social Skills
Basic self-help skills, interacting positively and respectfully, co-operating, turn-taking, showing empathy, interacting with adults, and children
Emotional Skills
Self-concept, identity formation, self-esteem, recognizing and expressing emotions, regulating attention, emotions and behavior and a positive attitude towards learning.
Communication, Language, and Literacy Skills
Receptive language skills, expressive language skills (words and sentences), using non-verbal communication and slowly moving towards verbal communication. Listening to others, conversing, enjoying literacy, using and understanding the power of literacy, awareness of shape, colors, numbers, and letters.
Cognition
Self-regulation, observing, collecting, distinguishing, classifying, sorting, counting, awareness of quantity, awareness of numbers, operations, using spatial relations.
Physical
Gross motor skills, e.g.: walking, jumping, hopping, galloping, throwing, riding, movement and expression. Fine motor skills developed through dressing, eating, painting, tool use, auditory skills and music.
Language
There are four main aspects; listening, speaking, reading and writing. Reading is taught by the ‘phonetic’ method. Children will learn to provide words that begin with a certain letter of the alphabet. Our “Show and Share” segment also enhances this concept.
Math
Our Math program lays the foundation for a more comprehensive and perceptive awareness of the relevance of numbers in our environment and leads to a true enjoyment of Math. Sorting and patterns, counting and matching, measuring, shapes and solids, combining and sequencing are some of the areas covered in Math.
Science
Your child’s knowledge of the world they live in will be enhanced. Children will be introduced to parts of an animal’s body, the human body, insects and amphibians. Older children will learn the names of parts of a plant, leaf and flower and how to take care of a plant. We will touch on living and non-living things. They will observe science experiments being conducted and will be able to use their scientific minds to understand cause and effect in experiments. We will touch on forms of matter, saving our planet and environment, the three R’s, air, water and sunlight.
Geography
Your child will be introduced to the “globe”. Your child’s curiosity will be stimulated about how children live in different parts of the world. They will learn about which animals live in different parts of the world. They will also learn about land and water.
History
Children will learn the concept of time i.e., day calendar, monthly calendar, season’s calendar and weather calendar. They will be introduced to the pre-historic time and how people lived in that time. They will use their imagination to think about what the future would be like to live in.
Music
Our music program develops an awareness and understanding of moods, feelings and emotions. It includes a balanced activity in listening, performing and creating through singing, music appreciation and simple instruments. Children will learn to sing songs as a group according to rhythm, harmony and tone.
Art
Our art program helps to develop the whole person. It constitutes drawing, painting and printing. There will be directed art and creative art. Children will explore colors, different textures such as play dough, silly putty, paint with shaving cream, mixing of colors and color recognition.
Nutrition
Children will learn about the four food groups and healthy eating. They will also learn about the nutrients and vitamins we derive from healthy and nutritious foods.
